About

The Not-So-Literary Heiresses (that's us!) are two sisters and their cousin who share a passion for reading. We are nieces of multi-awarded Filipino author Jose F. Lacaba and the late Eman Lacaba, who is considered the only poet warrior of the Philippines (and whose biopic is being released late this year!).

You would think being related to literary geniuses would sprinkle a little bit of writing talent and ambition our way, but one of us is a bank executive, another one is a broadcast tech on a cruise ship, and another one is in business school. The one thing we've all inherited is an undisputed love for books. This blog is our way of sharing our passion. More?

For book lovers, you can follow us through the different options below. For authors, if you would like a review of your book, please read our review policy first before sending in your request.

Tour Stop: Branded Spotlight + Giveaway!

Branded (Sinners #1)
by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki
Release Date: 06/28/13
252 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
Fifty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.

Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.

Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.

The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

About the Authors
Abi and Missy met in the summer of 1999 at college orientation and have been best friends ever since. After college, they added jobs, husbands and kids to their lives, but they still found time for their friendship. Instead of hanging out on weekends, they went to dinner once a month and reviewed books. What started out as an enjoyable hobby has now become an incredible adventure.

  1. Ugh! One of the reasons why I avoid NA is similar to what you said about love/obsession gone wrong. Most of the stories I've encountered at least didn't really feel like romantic love but more of dependency and all that. This Damien dude sounds creepy and this Etta girl is messed up. I hope they break up when they're older

  2. Eeek, sounds totally angsty and not up my alley with the insta love! At least you tried to like it. Thanks for the honesty, Amir! And happy new year to you girls :)

  3. Welcome back Jeann! :) Happy new year to you too!
I really wanted to like this book, I think if there is a warning in the blurb that is more of a love gone wrong romance I would've been more understanding of the he's TSTL qualities. And I wish authors would also indicate if the books is going to be in a series and in order to get a conclusion you'd have to wait and buy another book. Its really getting a pet peeve of mine when they do that.

  4. Yeah, it is slightly uncomfortable how she just turned 18 and supposedly sheltered but became like a wanton sex addict with him. And Damien is all screwed and I just didn't connect with him at all because he was such a one dimensional character in this book.
